The QSE Center invites EPFL researchers to submit proposals for research projects requiring access to Quantinuum quantum computers.

Background
Over the past five years, EPFL has pursued a coordinated strategy to build excellence and a strong interdisciplinary research community in quantum information science, quantum algorithms and quantum computing.
As part of this effort, EPFL through the QSE Center has acquired cloud access to Quantinuum’s quantum computers and associated software environment. The service is fully integrated into the EPFL computing environment operated by SCITAS. Because the available computing capacity is limited, access will be allocated through a competitive call for research proposals.
The QSE Center invites EPFL researchers to submit proposals for research projects requiring access to Quantinuum quantum computers. The call aims to support scientifically ambitious and original projects in areas including, but not limited to:
- quantum algorithms;
- quantum simulation;
- quantum information theory;
- quantum error correction and fault tolerance;
- benchmarking and characterization of quantum processors;
- hybrid quantum-classical computing;
- applications of quantum computing in physics, chemistry, materials science, optimization, machine learning and other disciplines.
Eligibility
The call is open to researchers affiliated with EPFL. Each proposal must identify:
- a scientific project leader;
- the participating researchers and laboratories;
- the EPFL laboratory that will assume responsibility for the project and for the internal billing of the quotas actually used;
- the researchers who are expected to require access to the platform.
Collaborative proposals involving several EPFL laboratories are encouraged.
Please note: for accepted proposals, actual hardware usage will be billed internally to the EPFL laboratory responsible for the project.
