CHAIR OF RANDOM GEOMETRY

The chair of random geometry is a small research group at the department of mathematics in EPFL. We do pure mathematical research on the interface of probability theory, analysis and mathematical physics.

At large we are interested in how one can describe and study systems where geometric structure and randomness interact. Real-life examples are everywhere around us – coffee stains and clouds, bubbles in boiling water, waves and seafronts, snowflakes, trees with their leaves. The mathematical research of such phenomena is currently a very active field with many researchers over the world.
