QiD: Querying time-series pattern by drawing

Laboratory : LSIR Semester / Master Completed

Description:

With the massive deployment of wireless sensor networks, our computing field become more and more pervasive and blend into human life like never before. For example, environmental sensing enables us to monitor what happen around us such as air pollution, temperature, humidity, traffic, and avalanche. Monitor very remote areas, such as mountains or rain forest also have never been easier.

In order to find useful insights from the data generated by these sensors, we need a tool that accepts query request for expressive pattern. For example, in the electricity sector, patterns such as “give me houses with peak hour in the evening”, or “give me days with ‘this’ specific pattern” are very desirable but difficult to express by typing. To overcome this problem, this project will develop a tool that accepts pattern query by drawing. Whenever possible, we will use public libraries available to support our functionalities.
