Project type: Master/semester project
A shallow circular corral influences the natural frequencies, the damping coefficients and the shapes of capillary-gravity waves in a cylindrical container of nominal radius R filled with a liquid to a depth H. (Fig.1)
OBJECTIVE : to compute
- frequency, damping and shape of capillary-gravity waves (linear eigenvalue problem) for varying parameters: H, L, D and fluid viscosity
- linear response to a vertical periodic forcing when a static meniscus is present: effect of the shallow corral on the emission and dissipation of edge waves generated by the oscillating meniscus at the lateral solid wall
NUMERICAL TOOLS : Chebyshev-based pseudospectral collocation method with sub-domain decomposition implemented in Matlab (CODE AVAIALABLE)
