Analysis of atmospheric aerosol composition and sources with a novel automated infrared spectrometer
Background
Atmospheric particles (or aerosols) originate from many different sources. Understanding their origins and their impacts on health and climate requires that we understand their abundance and chemical composition.
Masters theses and semester projects
Projects are available to study atmospheric aerosols using a new online spectrometer conceptualized at EPFL and developed at Aerospec SA, a spinoff located in Ecublens. Based on student preferences, themes can be developed around
- analysis of aerosols measured in different measurement campaigns conducted at several study sites (Switzerland, Europe, and abroad)
- experimental characterization of particle chemical signatures
