The cities of Ascona and Locarno are located on a peninsula at the northern end of the Lago Maggiore (Major Lake) . The Monte Verità (Mountain of Truth) is a hill above the town of Ascona. Discover the “Magic Hill”.

Having historically been a hub for meetings, discussions and socialising, Monte Verità boasts years of experience in running seminars and conferences. Since 1989, it’s house for the Congressi Stefano Franscini (ETH Zürich), which in turns draws thousands of top researchers from all over the world to Monte Verità each year.

The surroundings of the Congressi Stefano Franscini  offer excellent opportunities for smaller and larger hikes with wonderful views of the Lago Maggiore area, and can be used as a starting point to explore the vicinity.

A tennis court is available at the Congressi Stefano Franscini.

Free parking is available on the premises.

By plane:

  • Fly to Zurich International Airport in Switzerland. Then, take the train to Zurich HB (main train station) go to Locarno using the Swiss railway system
  • Fly to MILAN Malpensa, Italy and take the train at the airport to LOCARNO, CH (only 2.5 hours away, direction Bellinzona, CH)

A “Swiss Pass” allows you unlimited travel on the Swiss Travel System (combining rail, boat, bus and public transport in thirty Swiss cities). In addition, you receive a 25% discount on most mountain rail and cable car trips. The pass is valid for 4, 8 or 15 days or for 1 month. More information & ordering.

By car:

If traveling by car, a pass for the Swiss Highways is required (one time toll, CHF 40.00, available at any border crossing). Look up Via Michelin online to trace your itinerary by car.

The conference venue has free parking available on the premises.

Local transportation:

From Locarno train station to Monte Verità:

  • Free shuttle bus service on Sunday September 22nd departing Locarno train station at:

15h20 – 16h00 – 16h40 – 17h20 – 18h00 and 18h40.

Shuttle bus at 18h00 and 18h40 will not stop at Hotel Luna and Hotel La Perla.

The shuttle bus has 9 seated places and is on a first come/first serve basis with no reservations.

The Monte Verità shuttle bus sign is posted at the railway station in Locarno:

Bus No. 1 (timetable) from Locarno railway station to Ascona (stop Ascona Posta) and then Bus No. 5 (“Buxi”) from Ascona to Monte Verità (timetable)

Participants will be housed within the Monte Verità conference complex in various facilities and in two external hotels :

A daily shuttle service is organized from/to Hotel Luna and Hotel La Perla.
