ENvironomic design of VehIcle Energy Systems (ENVIES)

The aim of this project is to develop a decision-support tool for designing the future energy systems options for the car industry.

Energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions are two major concerns for the car industry. For Groupe PSA, it is particularly crucial to have structured methods in order to account for energy efficiency in all stages of vehicle development.

The Industrial Process and Energy Systems Engineering (IPESE) Group develops methods and decision-support tools for the design and the optimization of complex energy systems. IPESE is specialized in sustainable energy systems and industrial processes, taking into account the full life cycle of products and services.

The aim of this project, called ENvironomic design of VehIcle Energy Systems (ENVIES), is to develop a decision-aid methodology that integrates energy efficiency and the development of alternative fuel technologies in the technical, economic and environmental assessment of future vehicles. We will produce an assessment tool able to facilitate the design of energy systems for automotive field by specifically accounting for aspects related to energy efficiency and environmental impact.

This project will last four years and is led by the IPESE Group, under the supervision of Prof. François Maréchal. It is sponsored by Groupe PSA.
