Launch s’EPanouir-FLourish

The launch of the s’Epanouir-FLourish initiative took place on Wednesday 19th November, attended by over 100 students and teachers in person, with a dozen more participating online.  The meeting was addressed by Provost Ambrogio Fasoli and Associate Vice President for Education, Nicolas Grandjean.

The goal of the s’EPanouir-FLourish project is to reimagine education at EPFL in a changing world.  The project envisages the revisions of Bachelor study plans to ensure we can provide an education which enables students to draw on a deep understanding of basic sciences to work with others to solve complex scientific and engineering problems.

Study plans will be revised by sections over the next few years, informed by the work of five working groups.  These working groups are exploring a range of topics such as different curriculum models in science and engineering education, how to ensure positive experiences for teachers and students in the context of an AI revolution in learning, and the financial and physical resources needed for our education.

The centrepiece of the launch was an opportunity for those who gathered to provide their inputs on projected future directions of education at EPFL. Students and teachers discussed with each other topics relevant to the future of EPFL education, and these reflections were gathered by discussion facilitators.  These will now be fed into the working groups to inform their work.

Community events will be held regularly by the s’EPanouir-FLourish initiative to ensure students and teachers have ongoing opportunities to contribute ideas and give feedback on proposals as they emerge.
