Cultivating resilience: land, food and climate justice

Activity in french only !
Thursday 3 April 6.15pm at CM 1105

This event will explore the challenges of food insecurity and the role of agroecology as a sustainable solution to climate, social and political crises. Using a global approach, we will look at the current challenges linked to access to land, natural resources and food sovereignty, highlighting the links between North and South.

In particular, we will look at how agroecological practices help to strengthen the resilience of communities in the face of environmental threats.

The main guest :

Germain Nyembo Kasendue studied at the University of Kinshasa, specialising in agricultural economics, and at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. Thanks to this solid training, he has accumulated extensive professional experience in the humanitarian field and in the development of sustainable food systems.

To help improve the poor food situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Germain coordinates Action de CarĂȘme’s programme. In this role, he ensures that the projects of the partner organisations are properly implemented and that knowledge and methods are shared between them. These programmes help people who make their living from agriculture, fishing and livestock farming to manage land and water sustainably. As a result, farming families benefit from a healthier, more balanced diet.

Other guests:

Associations involved in agroecology in Switzerland.

The event, organised jointly by IDM, the chaplaincy, Action de CarĂȘme and HEKS, will be followed by an aperitif.
