Members’ projects

Member project suggestions
Below, we suggest some projects to do, funded by Robopoly within reasonable limits for Robopoly, for members who don’t have any project ideas.
1) PLA Recycler
We use a lot of PLA at Robopoly, and a large portion of it is thrown away (supports, leftover filament, failed projects, etc.). We would like to reduce this waste and be more environmentally responsible. The goal would be to make new filament from plastic scraps using an extruder. This machine would take the plastic and form it into a long filament. There would be several preliminary steps, each with its own challenges: collecting, shredding, cleaning, drying, a first extrusion, cutting into granules, and finally a second extrusion.
2) Robert Cyro
If you discovered us on campus, you probably know Robert Cyro. He’s our robot that dispenses syrup 🙂 We want to keep him as he is, because he’s an important part of our association’s archives, but he’s starting to show his age. The goal would be to find a friend for Robert Cyro who could take his place so he can finally enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
