Literary Lunch – A Reading of Galileo by Marco Paolini

Thursday, April 17, at noon
in the SG architecture building (in the entrance or on the square, if the weather permits)

As part of the play “Galilée, le mécano”, which will be presented at the Vidy-Lausanne Theater from the 7th to the 31st of May, 2014, the famous director, author, and comedian, Marco Paolini, will give you a chance to learn more about the XVII Century inventor.

Using his voice, Paolini will bring back to life Galileo Galilei, the staunch defender of Copernicus, in a public reading. With his telescope, Galileo observed the stars and disproved Ptolemean geocentrism. Although his theory was deemed a heresy and cost him his freedom, it remains a genuine scientific discovery.

This is the Galileo Galilei that Marco Paolini is trying to revive, with humor and simplicity: a man obsessed by the desire to understand the universe. We invite you to attend Paolini’s reading at EPFL and to become acquainted with this legendary figure whose genius has rarely been surpassed.
