Concert programme :

  • JOHANNES BRAMS : Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77
  • RICHARD STRAUSS : Der Bürger als Edelmann (Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme), suite, Op. 60

Germanic music has known great composers who have always professed a hedonistic conception of their art, without seeking to turn upside down the canons inherited from the past. Brahms is one of them, who wrote a famous violin concerto rich of gypsy rhythms; so is Richard Strauss, whose rich orchestra slips with delicacy into a music for the theater wrote for Molière’s Bourgeois Gentilhomme.
