The Zurich-based pair Mediengruppe Bitnik works at the heart of our all-digital everyday life. Their artistic and critical approach of technology-related themes – automation, artificial intelligence, use and security of numerical data – put them in resonance with the most recent research domains of EPFL. Artist of the reconstruction, Karsten Födinger reforge contemporary sculpture on expression principles that find their logic in the truth of materials (concrete, metal, wood, soil) and in their physical and mechanical behaviours.

Visual, musical and technological performance of Geneviève Favre Petroff, stage artist who practices vocal funambulism in high-tech clothes of light. The artist creates for the EPFL this performance in which she testifies of her experience as a woman, artist, mother and Swiss citizen living in France. She offers a new exploration of the relations between these two countries with humour and irony.

Interactive sound installation BOUM TCHAK BAM

At the center of the largest patio of the Rolex Learning Center, Swiss artist Camille Scherrer puts three rocking chairs bigger than usual. By balancing on these chairs, one creates sound which form a surprising melody.

Art, Theatre and Teaching for a culture of the developed land

Duration: approx. 2.5 hours

The Fondation Culture Bâti (CUB) offers an architectural route from Archizoom to the Architectures Forum via the Vidy Theatre and its exhibition showing its new pavilion, a work by Yves Weinand of the IBOIS laboratory. The architect and historian Matthieu Jaccard will guide the public between art and construction, architecture in the service of theatre and the variety of final projects of architecture students. Three places for three projects from the ENAC faculty of EPFL.

BOLO MUSEUM

EXHIBITIONS:

  • Programmed disappearance, the Bolo Museum investigates – An orignal exhibition, provocative and fun. Now tiny, immaterial, camouflaged, hybrid, humanised, the computer never ceases to be forgotten and to disappear.
  • Logitech, 35 years of the history of the mouse, but not only – With rare mice, Logitech tells its “Innovation story” via a chronological double-scale, telling the story of micro-informatics and of the company.

ANIMATIONS:

  • Game lounge: from 2pm to midnight (continuous)
    Dedicated space for video games from the 70s,80s, 90s. Meet the stars of those epic times : Pong, Sonic, Donkey Kong or Mario.
  • Demos: from 2pm to midnight (continous)
    Sprites, beats, pixels, the Commodore 64 and its legendary sound SID chip, as well as the Amiga 500 sustained by Agnus, Paula and Denise, are still in the game ! With « DJ David »’s drives, let yourself be charmed by the surprising productions of the demo scene of back in the days and nowadays.
