Thermo-Pile Software
Thermo-Pile, a numerical tool for analyzing thermal effects on pile foundations, is based on a segmented discretization of the pile, enabling consideration of varying soil layers, properties, and temperatures with depth. An iterative finite difference scheme quantifies thermal strains and associated additional efforts under both axial mechanical loading and temperature changes.Implemented as an interactive Java application with intuitive menus and input windows, Thermo-Pile accepts temperature data from the energy design of heat exchanger pile systems. Calculation results are stored in text files and automatically visualized on graphs, illustrating mobilized friction relative to soil-bearing capacity, pile stresses relative to structural resistance, and deformations for given thermal loads. This comprehensive tool aids in understanding and mitigating thermal-induced stresses in pile foundations, enhancing the design and performance of geotechnical structures in thermal environments.Contact:
Thermo-Pile 1.02
Thermo-Pile 1.02 is available in two different editions:
- Enterprise Edition: this edition allows the use of Thermo-Pile as expertise or design tool. Enterprise Edition gives right to the commercial use of the software for private or public institutions.
- Academic Edition: this edition is for academic institutions for a non-commercial use or education purpose only. When used in published studies, Thermo-Pile should be referred to as the producer of the corresponding results.
Don’t hesitate to have a look at the Thermo-Pile brochure for further pieces of information.
