Water resources and management

The quantity and quality of water are essential for human well-being.
Preserving the ecosystem services and biodiversity of lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater is fundamental to the supply of water as a resource. The specialization in “Water Resources and Management” aims to plan, develop, monitor, and improve both the quality and quantity of water resources, while ensuring the health of aquatic ecosystems. Sustainable water management in a rapidly changing world, as well as the encroachment of the human footprint on watersheds, is a constant challenge and impacts all parts of the water cycle, including glaciers and permafrost, as well as the ecosystem services associated with them.
This specialization covers the main pillars of water resources and their management, including the scientific and technical aspects essential to the sustainable use and preservation of ecosystems that provide water as a resource.
