A literature review on noise in small rotorcrafts has been assembled in order to understand the general mechanisms involved in the noise footprint of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) . The plan of attack used seeks to create a systematic approach for designing low noise footprint UAS, by taking in consideration the different sources and possible attenuation of small scale rotorcraft noise. Experimental protocols aiming to measure and analyze the noise footprint of UAS have also been developed to support the theory previously introduced.
