Focused Ion Beam Microstructuring of a Swiss-made Watch

Swiss watches are famous all around the world for their high quality and precision. These were the attributes that we were looking for in a present for our student, Maja Bachmann, for her graduation from the group. By using Focused Ion Beam micro-machining, we prepared a truly unique gift. With the help of local watch maker, Marc Jenni, we were able to access the individual pieces to engrave the hands with sub-micrometer precision.
