ATMSS Workshop 2017

ATMSS 2017

The Laboratory for Soil Mechanics – Chair Gaz Naturel – Petrosvibri (LMS) organized the international ATMSS Workshop: “Advances in Laboratory Testing and Modelling of Soils and Shales”. The event took place in the wonderful landscape of Swiss Alps at Villars-sur-Ollon on the 17 – 20 January 2017.

The event was a great opportunity for promoting the exchange of ideas, practices and state of the art among the major experts active in the field of laboratory testing and modelling of soils and shales.

Participants exchanging ideas

More than 50 talks, 6 keynote  lectures and 6 feature lectures have been presented successfully.  Participants from international universities and also from industry participated to the workshop and made interesting presentations on topics related to advances in modelling and laboratory testing of soils and shales.

The LMS has participated by some oral presentations given by PhD students and post-docs researchers:
Dr. Anne-Catherine Dieudonné, Evaluation of the instantaneous profile method for the determination of the relative permeability function

  • Dr. Yafei Qiao, Constitutive framework for unsaturated soils with differentiation of capillarity and adsorption
  • Dr. Chao Li, Coupled analysis of CO2 injection induced stress variation in the caprock
  • Mr. Alessandro Rotta Loria, Impact of thermally induced soil deformation on the serviceability of energy pile groups
  • Ms. Valentina Favero, One-Dimensional Compression Behaviour of Opalinus Clay
  • Mr. Alberto Minardi, The role of anisotropy on the volumetric behaviour of Opalinus Clay upon suction change
  • Ms. Eleonora Crisci, One dimensional consolidation of Opalinus Clay from shallow depth
  • Mr. Dimitrios Terzis, On the application of the microbially induced calcite precipitations for soils: a multiscale study
  • Mr. Etienne Cassini, Chemical influence of pore pressure on brine flow in clay-rich material
