Swiss Mobility Conference 2025

1 & 2 September 2025Géopolis, UNIL, Lausanne (CH)

The conference provides a space for discussion and debate for scholars in the humanities and social sciences working on various forms of mobility in Switzerland and beyond. 

Presentations may address mobility in its diversity (from daily mobility and mode choice to alternative mobility, tourism, migration, etc.) and explore the following research areas:

  • Theoretical debates (the contributions of social theories to the study of mobilities)
  • Methodological innovations (using mobile methods)
  • Public policy, decision making and regulation of mobility
  • Actors and their logics of action (residential choice, mode choice, motivations)
  • Norms, values and practices underlying mobility and social inequalities
  • Rhythms and timescales of mobility (daily mobility, tourism, migration)
  • Mobility infrastructure, accessibility and the production of space
  • Socio-ecological transitions and future mobility trends

Keynote speakers

  • Eva Heinen (Deputy head of the Institute of Transport Planning and Systems at ETHZ)
  • Daniel Reck (head of multimodal mobility at TPG)

Venue and practical information

The conference will take place Géopolis on the UNIL Campus.

The conference will be conducted in French and English.

Abstracts of 3000 characters must be sent by March 9 to: [email protected]

Abstracts must be submitted exclusively in English. Additionally, applicants are kindly requested to indicate in their abstracts the languages (French and/or English) in which they are able to present.
