MEMS-based IC Design (MEMSIC)

Following the more than Moore approach, the MEMS-based IC design (or MEMS-specific integrated circuit, MEMSIC) activity explores the potential of using an optimum combination of MEMS devices and dedicated circuits for improving the performance and further miniaturizing the complete system. The research is mostly focused on the design of miniaturized radio taking advantage of high-Q resonators such as bulk acoustic wave (BAW) and MEMS resonators to reduce the power consumption of the most power hungry blocks such as the frequency synthesizer, the RF front-end and the power amplifier (PA).
