Research

The GSE targets the production and use of carbon-neutral energy carriers and intermediates. This comprises energy carriers from recycled CO2 and carbon-free energy carriers, such as ammonia, for which we are developing catalytic synthesis routes. The production of all these energy carriers requires green hydrogen from water electrolysis, powered by renewable electricity. As renewable electricity is increasingly generated by PV and wind in remote locations, one aspect of our research are small-scale catalytic processes that can be operated dynamically according to fluctuations in electricity generation.
