Post-doctoral or research assistant position in structural engineering

Damage management in infrastructure requires classification of damage according to the cause and potential consequence of the damage. At present, this is based on engineering intuition by the engineer performing the inspection. The goal is to set up a simple, practice-oriented approach for damage management of bridge infrastructure considering explicitly for uncertainties in loading and material properties.

Your profile: You have a PhD or a Master degree in structural / civil engineering and expertise in finite element simulations and ideally knowledge on uncertainty quantification.

Your tasks:

  • Collection of data (20%)
  • Set up and analysis of case studies (20%)
  • Set up of a method for damage management of infrastructure (40%)
  • Various other tasks (20%)
