Marius Lemm joined EPFL in September 2020 as the Chair of Mathematical Physics and Analysis.
Before that, he was employed as a Benjamin Peirce Fellow at Harvard University, working with Horng-Tzer Yau, and as a member at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, where his mentors were Wilhelm Schlag and Tom Spencer. He completed his Ph.D. at the California Institute of Technology under the supervision of Rupert L. Frank. His undergraduate and master studies in mathematics and physics were done at LMU Munich and the University of Cambridge.
His research investigates problems originating in quantum physics with the methods of rigorous mathematical analysis. The tools used mainly come from the calculus of variations, ergodic theory, harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, and spectral theory.
