The Data-Enabled Circular Economy research and innovation programme is going to turn the scarce data problem into a big data opportunity, with the objective to transform linear value chains into regenerative value circles. We envision building a deeply data-driven infrastructure, which is going to enable the optimization of the current flows of materials, processes, energy, products, and waste. Making use of this data layer, AI-driven system-modelling may enable a novel, truly knowledge-based Circular Economy.

As approach towards the implementation of a systems shift towards Circular Economy, we are currently working on two concrete use cases, in collaboration with dedicated consortia of cross-sectorial partners (industry, NGOs, policy & standards):

  1.   Circular Economy of Batteries for E-Mobility
  2.   Circular Economy of Sustainable Food Systems
