Stress is intrinsic to academic life. High expectations, pressure, exams and uncertainty of passing classes, being far from family and friends, adapting to a new environment, managing a budget, and so on is part of the daily life.

When these factors add up, the stress they create can affect your mental health and detract from your studies.

Neuroscientists studying the structure and functioning of our nervous system and brain can help us understand how our bodies react in the face of stress.
