PLACEMENT & SUPERVISION.
Our doctoral candidates complete their degree in about four years. To ensure that progress is made on all fronts, the doctoral program coordinator works side-by-side with the candidate’s thesis supervisor. The EDMT organizes the placement of its doctoral candidates, provides them with an administrative and intellectual hub on campus, and offers them a menu of advanced courses that broaden and deepen their knowledge.
The College of Management of Technology (CDM) hosts the Institute of Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship which contains the core faculty of the doctoral program in Management of Technology. Thesis research can be done in collaboration with a broad number of academics across campus. The program has also close ties with the Swiss Finance Institute @ EPFL and the Technology & Public Policy Institute @EPFL, which are also a part of the CDM.
EDMT students are offered assistantship positions in their research units on a very competitive pay scale. In addition to attending courses and working on their doctoral research, EDMT students, as part of their assistantships, participate in the education of undergraduates and graduate students, and contribute to the organization of their respective research units.
Every EDMT student benefits from a broad range of EPFL services, including sports facilities, career counseling, medical assistance, housing office, professional placement, and special-interest clubs. Students also have access to many university-wide training courses to advance their presentation skills, languages, team leadership, teaching techniques, and CV preparation. Besides providing the tools and the rigour for outstanding doctoral research, the Doctoral School takes pride to ensure that all EDMT graduates are well-equipped with “soft skills” to attain their career goals.
