EDMA End of thesis

ORAL EXAM (FINAL)

The oral examination of the thesis should take place within the deadline of 4 years from the enrolment date (within 3 years from the EDOC thesis admission date). Please contact EDMA administration at least 3 months before the oral exam in order to receive all the instructions.

Doctoral candidates who are submitting the jury proposal for their thesis exam are asked to complete also the document Conflict of interest declaration.

Possible conflicts of interest:

  • Jury members must not have hierarchical relations to one another.
  • Jury members must not have a close personal or professional relationship with the candidate or thesis director. In particular, the external and internal experts as well as the jury president should not have taken part in the work reported in the thesis.
  • Former and current collaborators (including former PhDs/postdocs) of the thesis director are not in conflict of interest as long as they have not taken part in the work reported in the thesis. Former PhD/postdocs should have terminated any hierarchical relationship with the thesis director before the starting of the thesis under examination.

Under exceptional circumstances, a request to prolong thesis preparation and delay the oral thesis examination may be submitted. The request for such an extension is made by submitting the required form to EDMA administration for approval by both the EDMA Program Director and the Deputy to the Vice-president for Postgraduate Education.
