Infrastructures under development

A flexible and adaptable environment
To continue delivering high-quality education that meets evolving pedagogical practices and the needs of the student community, EPFL is investing in two transformative projects. With the construction of a new building on the Esplanade and the renovation of the Coupole, the Double Deck project will offer modular lecture halls and flexible study spaces—designed to support a wide range of learning and teaching formats, from traditional lectures to collaborative projects and individual or group work.
In parallel, the Plexus program—comprising Plexus 1 and Plexus 2—will modernize and enhance EPFL’s digital tools and education-related infrastructure. Plexus 1 aims to replace the IS-Academia academic management system with a user-friendly, reliable, and easily adaptable platform. Plexus 2 focuses on renewing the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and upgrading audiovisual equipment in lecture halls.
Together, these initiatives lay the foundation for a more flexible, inclusive, and innovation-driven educational experience.
