Experience a bibliologist

This activity invites participants to engage with biblical stories by stepping into the shoes of their characters. On the occasion of the French publication of Uta Pohl-Patalang’s reference book, Le bibliologue. Nouvelle animation de groupe autour de la Bible (Olivétan, December 2025), the session will be offered twice during the spring semester.
Bibliolog is a playful and creative method that explores the relevance of biblical texts for today. Rather than focusing on historical or doctrinal interpretation, it opens a space for imagination and expression, allowing participants to experience the emotions, perspectives, and inner worlds of biblical characters without judgment or “right” answers.
Inspired by the Jewish tradition of midrash, the method was developed in the 1980s by American literature professor Peter Pitzele and later widely adopted in Protestant and educational contexts, particularly through the work of theologian Uta Pohl-Patalang. Bibliolog creates a living dialogue between biblical texts and contemporary human experience.
The session will conclude with an informal discussion followed by an apéritif.
