Multi-factor authentication

We are currently rolling out multi-factor authentication (MFA) across our IT systems and services.  

When you first log into an EPFL IT system, you will be asked to register a QR code using your smartphone. We’ve put together video tutorials showing you how to set up a second authentication factor on your smartphone using either the Microsoft or Google Authenticator app. These tutorials are available in the Activate the Authenticator App section.

We strongly recommend that EPFL employees activate the VoiceCall feature to ensure the continuity of their business tasks even if they lose or forget their smartphone. You can see how to do this in the Activate the VoiceCall Feature section below, which contains step-by-step instructions on configuring a second authentication factor consisting of a phone call to:

    your EPFL landline, or 

    The Jabber application.
