Join our overseas assistance program

The assistance program is a service provided free of charge to EPFL members for their professional and academic travel abroad.

This program does not apply to private travel.

  • Summerschools organized by the School abroad
  • Trips as part of interdisciplinary projects supported by the MAKE committee

Prepare your departure

Check the validity of your identity documents: passport, identity card or residence permit. If you have to issue such a document, you will be responsible for the costs involved.

Check whether you need a visa or any other form of entry permit for the country you are visiting on the CIBT visas portal and, if necessary, obtain one.

Remember that obtaining such a document can take a long time: make sure you start the process as soon as the date of your trip is set.

  • EPFL employee: the expenses incurred are considered as professional expenses and are to be charged to the trip.
  • EPFL student: if you have to draw up such a document, you are responsible for the costs involved.
  • Find out about the risks of diseases that can be contracted abroad.
  • Update your vaccinations according to your destination.
