DESALPE – A concert by Usinesonore

A marimba as the sole musical instrument, played alone, in a duo, or a trio – the program of Desalpe is built around a single instrument shared by its musicians.

The USINESONORE Association was founded in 2005 by Julien Annoni and Olivier Membrez, two young music enthusiasts and aficionados of contemporary creations, both from the Bernese Jura. This year, they will return to the EPFL campus for the third straight year, accompanied of Julien Mégroz, to present their new project.

A number of Swiss tunes have been composed for the marimba. For their tour, Usinesonore have made it their cause to increase their visibility by adding five Swiss pieces to their set list. As a mirror to the Swiss compositions, they will also perform compositions of traditional music from Mexico, the original homeland of the marimba, which over the years has evolved into the form that we are familiar with today
