Campus Climate Plan

In response to the climate emergency, the EPFL Direction set up a Task Force in November 2019 to establish an ambitious Climate & Sustainability Plan for the period 2021-2030.
The objective is to integrate sustainability into all EPFL missions and to position our school as a reference institution worldwide in terms of sustainability. In this Plan, EPFL also commits itself to the Confederation’s climate objectives for the administration, i.e. to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030 compared to 2006 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

The EPFL Sustainability Unit is in charge of the CAMPUS part, or Campus Climate Plan, i.e. the definition of measures concerning operational aspects: Food, Commuting, Business Mobility, Buildings, Energy, Partnerships, Purchasing, Green Labs and Community & Well-being.

The definition of the measures is carried out within different working groups gathering members of the concerned departments, experts and students. Several collaborative workshops have been organized in Spring 2020 in order to co-create a first version of the Campus Climate Plan as a basis for the participatory approach.
