The Campus Piéton project was launched in 2021 by the Vice Presidency for Responsible Transformation (VPT). It involves several entities internal and external to EPFL.
The EPFL management has approved the project, which has an estimated budget of 5 million francs over 3 years.
Within the VPT, in the Sustainability unit, the Mobility and Outdoor Public Spaces teams are leading the project.
A close collaboration with the Vice Presidency for Operations is engaged for the design and implementation of the project.
The ALICE and Lab-U laboratories and the Habitat Research Center (HRC) of the ENAC School have been involved in leading the contributory process within the EPFL community.
They have included in the program for the spring semester 2022 a teaching unit (Poly-Trees Trajectories of Species), two ENAC Week modules (Land of Thousand Dances and Making the Campus of Tomorrow), a studio and a course of the Architecture section (Studio Viganò and Territorial and Urban Analysis) entirely dedicated to the requalification of the campus.
Three parallel study mandates will be entrusted to external companies following the recommendations of the contributive approach formulated by the ALICE laboratory.
The financing plan for the project is being developed with the support of the Vice Presidency for Finances.
